Accessibility
This site should work for everyone who visits it, whatever they use to read it.
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It hasn’t been independently audited, so if something gets in your way, please tell me.
What’s in place
- Pages use real headings, landmarks, lists and tables, so assistive technology can move through them by structure.
- Everything works from a keyboard. A skip link jumps past the navigation, and the focused element always has a visible outline.
- Body text meets WCAG AA contrast against the page, and the site can be zoomed to 200% without losing content or scrolling sideways.
- Motion is decorative. If your device is set to reduce motion, nothing on the site animates.
- Status in the case study is written out in words, never shown by color alone, and images that carry information have text descriptions.
What isn’t perfect yet
- The case study includes a cropped screenshot of a dense interface. Its smallest text isn’t legible at every size. The table above it carries the same information as text.
- Links to LinkedIn and GitHub go to sites I don’t control, and their accessibility is up to them.
How it was checked
By hand, in current desktop and mobile browsers: keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom at 200%, the reduced-motion setting, and contrast ratios calculated from the site’s colors. It hasn’t yet been tested with a screen reader session or by an outside auditor.
Reporting a problem
If you hit a barrier, email hello@studioschafrath.com with the page and what happened. I’ll reply, and I’ll fix what I can.
